Portland Final Thoughts (2/12/21 - 3/15/21)

While I’m happy I went to Portland and explored, I completely feel like I missed a lot because of Covid and all the craziness the city went through in 2020 (and is still dealing with in 2021).  One thing I'm definitely going to miss is the beautiful white clouds – I’ve never seen anything like that.

Livability for me:  I don't think I can see myself living there.  I would definitely visit again after a few years, and think I would really like the scene for a vacation, but I just don’t see myself being there longer term.

Time to explore Seattle!

Hawaiian Adventures

I’ve been so bad about keeping up with the blog.  My schedule has been crazy with work and my afternoons and weekends are filled with activities and beach days.  It’s all been amazing and I wouldn’t change a minute of it.   Here are highlights and pictures from the rest of the trip in case you are visiting Oahu: Hiking - I went on 3 big hikes while here and learned a few things (i n case you’re curious the 3 hikes were: Diamond Head, Wiliwilinue Ridge Trail and Makiki Valley Trail) Always be prepared - my last hike was completely messy and muddy, I literally was covered in mud.  It rained 90% of the time I was hiking too so everything was super slippery.  I made it down fine though once I told myself I’m just going to get dirty and deal with it. Island Life

Destination 4 in Honolulu, HI more specifically Waikiki Beach.  To be honest a week later and I can barely believe that I’m here for a month (well now 3 weeks)!  When I arrived last Friday I was a bit shocked.  One, it was very busy (I mean what happened to Covid) and two, I was in a total touristy area and it felt like I was on spring break. I told myself it would take a week to settle in. That’s where I am now and feel right at home. My Airbnb is perfect, 1 minute from the beach, and has a little balcony which I use for my early morning workdays.  I get up around 3 am for work, but it's so peaceful outside with the birds chirping, so I don't mind it.   My first week has been really amazing... Being A Country Girl In Nashville

This week I decided to stay in Nashville. I basically just spent the week eating and exploring.   Highlights: Country Music Hall Of Fame - I’m not into country music besides a few pop/country songs, however this was such an nice experience to learn the history of the genre.  I loved everything about the museum.  It had so much background on the different artists, country sounds, and how the music became popular.  The rotunda was beautiful with all the plaques from artists that have been initiated into the Hall of Fame. Parthenon -  I debated on this one and whether touring inside would be worth it.  From the outside the Parthenon is magnificent and makes me want to visit Greece.  I recommend going and sitting in Centennial Park during sunset - you'll get some beautiful pictures.  After reading some reviews, I decided to go and tour the inside.
