Exploring Boulder

Image
Week 3 is here already.  I can't believe how quickly my time is going.  The week was spent biking around and enjoying the food here.  I love biking Confluence Park leading to Cherry Creek Trail.  It is so nicely setup with a section for walkers and a separate section for bikers/skaters.  The reservoir water runs through the middle and there is street art around as you make your way through.  Its so nice to just put on some music, bike and people watch.  I didn't get a car this weekend and instead opted for exploring Boulder.  I loved Boulder, while the city of Denver is awesome, Boulder has its own magic.  You are right near the mountains with tons of trails everywhere.  Plus Pearl Street is really happening and fun to walk on, get drinks or food and people watch.  Few callouts: Avanti in Boulder - I know I called out Avanti earlier in the blog, but the one in Boulder has a beautiful rooftop, you can see the mountains and the city....

Scootering and Another Road Trip Adventure

I love that Denver has so many ways to get around.  There are electric bikes everywhere by Lyft and Uber and an abundance of scooters all over the place.   The weather Monday/Tuesday were super rainy.  Everyone says it never rains this much here normally, but I actually don't mind it.  The weekends have been beautiful and the rain comes and goes.  What everyone said about the weather is so true, it really varies.  I can leave my AirBnb and it’s a little cool, walk 5 minutes and its really hot.  It definitely requires dressing in layers - I learned that after going to an outdoor bar and freezing because I didn't dress correctly.  Over the weekend I rented a car again and went to explore the mountains.   Highlights: Rocky Mountain National Park - I got to drive around the mountains, see wildlife and hike in the snow.  It was such an adventurous day and every view was unbelievably beautiful.   Royal Gorge Bridge & P...

Welcome To The Mountains

Landed safely in Denver, Colorado - stop 5 in this crazy adventure!  My first week in Denver has been so fun.  The weekdays are filled with work, walking around and eating lots of awesome food!  I rented a car the first weekend and had wonderful trip around Colorado Springs.  Highlights and pictures below. Red Rocks - OMG I'm in love with it here.  I got up early and went for the sunrise.  Completely worth it - it was so beautiful coming up over the rocks.  Then I went hiking and took in the beautiful sites.  My goal is to come back here to see a concert - everyone has told me it’s a must do. Highland Tap and Burger - I was recommended this restaurant specifically for the their mushroom and swiss burger - definitely did not disappoint. Little Man Ice Cream - So many recommendations to come here, I can't even count.  I ate a lot more ice cream than I should have, but it was completely worth it.  They're ice cream just melts in your mou...

Hawaiian Adventures

Image
I’ve been so bad about keeping up with the blog.  My schedule has been crazy with work and my afternoons and weekends are filled with activities and beach days.  It’s all been amazing and I wouldn’t change a minute of it.   Here are highlights and pictures from the rest of the trip in case you are visiting Oahu: Hiking - I went on 3 big hikes while here and learned a few things (i n case you’re curious the 3 hikes were: Diamond Head, Wiliwilinue Ridge Trail and Makiki Valley Trail) Always be prepared - my last hike was completely messy and muddy, I literally was covered in mud.  It rained 90% of the time I was hiking too so everything was super slippery.  I made it down fine though once I told myself I’m just going to get dirty and deal with it. Always bring something waterproof to put your phone in - I took out my phone plenty of times to take pictures of the beautiful view, in the end I got water damage and had to get a new phone - not fun.   E...

Island Life

Image
Destination 4 in Honolulu, HI more specifically Waikiki Beach.  To be honest a week later and I can barely believe that I’m here for a month (well now 3 weeks)!  When I arrived last Friday I was a bit shocked.  One, it was very busy (I mean what happened to Covid) and two, I was in a total touristy area and it felt like I was on spring break. I told myself it would take a week to settle in. That’s where I am now and feel right at home. My Airbnb is perfect, 1 minute from the beach, and has a little balcony which I use for my early morning workdays.  I get up around 3 am for work, but it's so peaceful outside with the birds chirping, so I don't mind it.   My first week has been really amazing... I think the island life suits me.  Here are some highlights and pictures: Waikiki Beach - Yes it’s super touristy, but it’s beautiful, the water is so blue and the waves are awesome for surfing. Diamond Head - Another touristy destination and busy.  It is...
