Exploring My Own Cities - Home in the East Coast (5/27-8/1)

Finally updating - if feels like a lifetime has passed since I last updated.  My last few months have been so busy.  After Denver, I went home in June and July for some East Coast adventures. The 2 months were filled with so many great memories.  It was wonderful spending some time with my family and friends.

Some highlights/adventures that stood out:

  • Day trip to Deerfield, MA - Such an awesome day with my parents.  It's 2 hours away from our house, but it was worth the drive up to explore a different area of the state.  Some highlights from that trip include:
    • Mount Sugarloaf State Reservation - The views from up top are beautiful.
    • Yankee Candle Flagship Store - So many candles for such good deals.  Walking around the country store was really fun, they have a whole Christmas section (all year around).
  • Hiking Blue Hills - Great way to get your steps in and see some gorgeous views.  On a clear day, you can see the Boston skyline from Elliot Tower.
  • Washington DC - We made a little get away as a family trip to visit DC.  The best experience was that we rented a limo and saw all the statues in twilight. My fav was Albert Einstein.
  • Other highlights - Seeing fireworks on the East River, eating at Jersey City's Smorgasbord, visiting the Harry Potter store in NYC for Butter Beer, exploring Halibut Point Reservation and the Gloucester area of MA, a day trip to Portsmouth, NH, getting a new tattoo, and most of all hanging out with family and friends!

Hawaiian Adventures

I’ve been so bad about keeping up with the blog.  My schedule has been crazy with work and my afternoons and weekends are filled with activities and beach days.  It’s all been amazing and I wouldn’t change a minute of it.   Here are highlights and pictures from the rest of the trip in case you are visiting Oahu: Hiking - I went on 3 big hikes while here and learned a few things (i n case you’re curious the 3 hikes were: Diamond Head, Wiliwilinue Ridge Trail and Makiki Valley Trail) Always be prepared - my last hike was completely messy and muddy, I literally was covered in mud.  It rained 90% of the time I was hiking too so everything was super slippery.  I made it down fine though once I told myself I’m just going to get dirty and deal with it. Island Life

Destination 4 in Honolulu, HI more specifically Waikiki Beach.  To be honest a week later and I can barely believe that I’m here for a month (well now 3 weeks)!  When I arrived last Friday I was a bit shocked.  One, it was very busy (I mean what happened to Covid) and two, I was in a total touristy area and it felt like I was on spring break. I told myself it would take a week to settle in. That’s where I am now and feel right at home. My Airbnb is perfect, 1 minute from the beach, and has a little balcony which I use for my early morning workdays.  I get up around 3 am for work, but it's so peaceful outside with the birds chirping, so I don't mind it.   My first week has been really amazing... I think the island life suits me.  Here are some highlights and pictures: Waikiki Beach - Yes it’s super touristy, but it’s beautiful, the water is so blue and the waves are awesome for surfing. Being A Country Girl In Nashville

This week I decided to stay in Nashville. I basically just spent the week eating and exploring.   Highlights: Country Music Hall Of Fame - I’m not into country music besides a few pop/country songs, however this was such an nice experience to learn the history of the genre.  I loved everything about the museum.  It had so much background on the different artists, country sounds, and how the music became popular.  The rotunda was beautiful with all the plaques from artists that have been initiated into the Hall of Fame. Parthenon -  I debated on this one and whether touring inside would be worth it.  From the outside the Parthenon is magnificent and makes me want to visit Greece.  I recommend going and sitting in Centennial Park during sunset - you'll get some beautiful pictures.  After reading some reviews, I decided to go and tour the inside.
