Hawaiian Adventures

I’ve been so bad about keeping up with the blog.  My schedule has been crazy with work and my afternoons and weekends are filled with activities and beach days.  It’s all been amazing and I wouldn’t change a minute of it.

Here are highlights and pictures from the rest of the trip in case you are visiting Oahu:
  • Hiking - I went on 3 big hikes while here and learned a few things (in case you’re curious the 3 hikes were: Diamond Head, Wiliwilinue Ridge Trail and Makiki Valley Trail)
  1. Always be prepared - my last hike was completely messy and muddy, I literally was covered in mud.  It rained 90% of the time I was hiking too so everything was super slippery.  I made it down fine though once I told myself I’m just going to get dirty and deal with it.
  2. Always bring something waterproof to put your phone in - I took out my phone plenty of times to take pictures of the beautiful view, in the end I got water damage and had to get a new phone - not fun.
  3. Enjoy the hike - even though one was super messy and I damaged my phone losing all my hiking pictures, I have such wonderful memories from all of them... something about just seeing and smelling the greenery of Hawaii was so refreshing.
  • Use as many modes of transportation as you can - I rented 2 fun cars (a Jeep where the top comes off and a convertible), road a moped on the east side (which was so excing), viewed Oahu from above in a doorless helicopter, took a sunset cruise and even used the local bus - it was all so fun.
  • Have adventures, but also spend time at the beach - I was lucky enough to do lots of really fun activities: a dolphin swim, snorkeling, a helicopter ride, a cruise and hiking… but I also just hung out on the beach, watched the sunset from the water and read books.
  • Shaka Guide Tours - I’m going to shout this out again, because I did many of the tours, and got some great stories about Oahu, got to hike the rainforest and saw some really beautiful views that I wouldn't have known to stop at without the guide.
  • Other things - Pearl Harbor, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Waimea Valley, Iolani Palace, Tantalus Lookout
Went snorkeling and saw some really beautiful large sea turtles

The perfect sunset from the water

Seeing the dolphins in their natural habitat was surreal

Pearl Harbor Memorial - very moving

Chilling on the beach

Tantalus Lookout - the most spectacular view of Waikiki and Diamond Head

National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific - really great place to see while in Oahu
