Scootering and Another Road Trip Adventure

I love that Denver has so many ways to get around.  There are electric bikes everywhere by Lyft and Uber and an abundance of scooters all over the place.   The weather Monday/Tuesday were super rainy.  Everyone says it never rains this much here normally, but I actually don't mind it.  The weekends have been beautiful and the rain comes and goes.  What everyone said about the weather is so true, it really varies.  I can leave my AirBnb and it’s a little cool, walk 5 minutes and its really hot.  It definitely requires dressing in layers - I learned that after going to an outdoor bar and freezing because I didn't dress correctly.  Over the weekend I rented a car again and went to explore the mountains.  

Highlights:

  • Rocky Mountain National Park - I got to drive around the mountains, see wildlife and hike in the snow.  It was such an adventurous day and every view was unbelievably beautiful.  
  • Royal Gorge Bridge & Park - Its funny how many people in Denver that I spoke to didn't really know about this.  It’s the largest suspension bridge in the country overlooking the Royal Gorge in Canon City.  Its very pretty and full of scenic views.  You can walk across or take a gondola ride, unfortunately the day I went you could only walk across because it was too windy for the gondolas.  Along the bridge they have the flags of every state which was pretty cool to see as well.
  • Canon City Skyline Drive - Driving around Canon City was so nice, there is this pretty 2 mile road you can take about 800 feet up to see the views.  To be honest I'm usually not scared driving in the mountains, but this terrified me.  It was just your car on this little one way road with no guardrails.  I'm so glad I did It though, because the view was just gorgeous.  It was a little cloudy too which really added to the views.
  • The Prison Museum - This caught my eye as I was driving to the bridge, and since I had some time I decided to check it out.  Pretty cool to see - it’s a former woman's penitentiary and each cell is an exhibit.  It is also right next door to a prison that is in use.  There was one crazy story I remember specifically where they had to lockdown the museum.  Someone came in and said “I saw someone on the wall of the prison, they waved to me”.  Apparently there was an escape happening at that time, luckily they caught the guy soon after.
  • Driving Peak to Peak - This is a must drive byway from Estes Park to Boulder.  I was driving through a snowstorm in it, which completely made it one of the prettiest drives I've ever done.  The fresh white snow on the trees was such a site and as I made my way down and the sun was shining, that was such a nice feeling and crazy to think how a couple of miles completely changes the weather.  Also, take some time to walk around the town of Estes Park, its super cute.

Wow, you are making me want to take a trip to Denver. Although, I would have died driving through the Skyline drive!

Island Life

Destination 4 in Honolulu, HI more specifically Waikiki Beach.  To be honest a week later and I can barely believe that I’m here for a month (well now 3 weeks)!  When I arrived last Friday I was a bit shocked.  One, it was very busy (I mean what happened to Covid) and two, I was in a total touristy area and it felt like I was on spring break. I told myself it would take a week to settle in. That’s where I am now and feel right at home. My Airbnb is perfect, 1 minute from the beach, and has a little balcony which I use for my early morning workdays.  I get up around 3 am for work, but it's so peaceful outside with the birds chirping, so I don't mind it.   My first week has been really amazing... Being A Country Girl In Nashville

This week I decided to stay in Nashville. I basically just spent the week eating and exploring.   Highlights: Country Music Hall Of Fame - I’m not into country music besides a few pop/country songs, however this was such an nice experience to learn the history of the genre.  I loved everything about the museum.  It had so much background on the different artists, country sounds, and how the music became popular.  The rotunda was beautiful with all the plaques from artists that have been initiated into the Hall of Fame. Parthenon -  I debated on this one and whether touring inside would be worth it.  From the outside the Parthenon is magnificent and makes me want to visit Greece.  I recommend going and sitting in Centennial Park during sunset - you'll get some beautiful pictures.  After reading some reviews, I decided to go and tour the inside.
