Home of Country Music

After being home for 2 months, I'm ready to start traveling again.  Nashville is my next stop.  This place has been on  my bucket list forever!

My first week I spent exploring The Gulch area close to where I'm staying.  I wanted to get a lay of the land and my neighborhood for the month.  It’s a really nice area with lots of cute boutiques and restaurants around.  I walked to the famous Broadway section of town and went to Johnny Cash's Honky Tonk.  I loved it so much!  Such a cool vibe sitting at the bar listening to live music.  While I thought it would all be country, the musicians play everything.

Once the weekend hit, I was amazed by how different Nashville was.  Weekdays have a cool not overly busy vibe, but during the weekends everything is packed with bachelor and bachelorette parties.  The first weekend there really opened up my eyes to how lucky I was to be staying for a month.  All the must do places have long lines on the weekends. I was able to visit a lot of them on weekdays after work.

Some highlights and places I visited are:

  • Hattie Bs - Hot chicken is a must do in Nashville and Hattie Bs is the place to do it.  I heard so much about this place before I even got to here, it's basically on every list of things to do.  I'm so glad I did because it was totally worth all the hype.  The chicken just melts in your mouth.
  • White Limozeen - A new Dolly Parton themed rooftop bar that’s opened up recently in Nashville.  I went on a Friday afternoon, so it felt like every bachelorette party was there hanging out and getting ready for their evening ahead.  Really great drinks and they have these champagne jello shots that are a must try.  The décor is fancy it's definitely a classy place to check out with your girlfriends before you hit the town.
  • Bicentennial Mall – Once named the number 1 tourist attraction in Nashville, this park is completely worth seeing.  It features information on Tennessee's history and landmarks.  One side of the mall has these different granite maps that highlight areas and history of the state, along with 31 water fountains representing the major rivers and waterways of Tennessee, while the other   side has an huge amphitheater.
  • Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum -   Seems like everyone talks about the Country Hall Of Fame (which I did visit later ), but this is a really great museum too.  You learn about the people behind the music and how songs come together.  They also have a whole Grammy section which was pretty cool to learn more about.
  • Husk - Recommended to me and the brunch was amazing.
  • Honky Tonks visited - Johnny Cash's Bar, Tequila Cowboy
